The goal for Feb 17th is 229.9 lbs. He is on track to smash through that. He has been extra conscious of the foods he has been eating. And that is making a huge difference. He has meal replacement bars with him during the day that have a great balance of protein, fat, and carbohydrate. So when he is hungry during the work day he can have one of those.

He has been out of town for the past two weeks and only home on the weekend. Of course we weighed before the superbowl snacks so this week will be a little bit more difficult to maintain the weight loss. It should be fun to measure on the 17th though and see how the weight loss is effecting his waist line.

I have started him on the Vitabot Nutrition Software this week so he can know what and how much he is eating. Keeping a food journal can help you learn healthy eating patterns. Without keeping track weight loss can seem a mystery and something that seems to happen by magic. There is no magic, all science.

I just want to say congratulations Dad. Great work. Keep up the intensity so you can be at your goal sooner.

- Jeremy

P.s. Don't forget to check-out the pictures from the last post, they are incredible. I shifted my focus to some other areas. The Website got a bit of an over haul. We are back online now. We did the full measurements yesterday. We even re-took some pictures to compare to the start of the program. It is nearly un-believeable. I wanted to take the exact picture again so it wouldn't be the "tricks" they use on infomercials. Do you see what happened to his waist? He's lost nearly 4 inches at his waist!!! He looks alot different.

Though the pictures were awesome the measurements for this last interval weren't. But, having these measurements done we can look to the future.

Side Note:
I work with some people as more of a consultant doing one month check-ins. It's happened several times that they know they have not been doing what I have set-up for them, or worse, they may have gained. They want to be measured later. It is always the best policy to face facts head on. If you let yourself delay or put off measurements they you are putting off improvement. So even though I knew my father wasn't on target we still did the measurements.

The Plan:
We have a mission for this next four weeks. We want to get into 220's. The goal is 229.9 or lower.

How we are going to do this: My Dad will be out of town this week. He wants to jog a little more so he is going to jog everyday. The food has been a real momentum killer. Two main mistakes he was making is too many snacks and a dinner that was 2 times the size it needed to be. So our goal for this week introduce controlled snacks and purposely cut back on dinner. There is a point when people are no longer hungry. Most people will eat way past this level to the tight stomach feeling. You know you've had too much if you feel full.

I will be sticking on him pretty hard this week since this week is a planned turning point. He is also going to be hard on himself for this week. We have had great results so far by looking at the pictures you can tell. We are not quite halfway to his goal. It is exciting to think of what the pictures might look like then. He might start getting mistaken for me!! (I have a few gray hairs)

Thanks for keeping up with our progress. I will have a new update for you next week. Until then please visit our new message board and talk to other training clients and friends about anything. www.talltrainer.com.

Weeks 10 + 11

The holidays

We lost a little momentum here. This is pretty common during this season. My father lost 3 lbs in the 10th week but gained it back in the 11th. This is pretty common for most people we are still 13 lbs down from the start and lots of inches down. We are hitting the trail again this month. Along with most of the population of the US. My dad has a particular challenge to you. I'll let him explain.

DAD:

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Thank you to everyone that is supporting me in my transformation effort.

Well, the holidays are done and I have to admit that I had a great time. I tried to stay faithful to my regimen, but I must admit I have lost some ground. Too many parties. Too many snacks. WAY too many cookies and we can’t forget Jacqui’s fantastic cheesecake. And, to top it off, I have been living on my Venison Chili for the last several days. Tomorrow I will weigh myself and assess the damage.

And here’s where you, dear reader, come in. I propose a Race to February. Whatever my weight is tomorrow, I challenge you to beat my weight loss between now and the end of the month. What’s the prize? Well for starters, you will get my awe and reverence if you beat my weight loss, because I intend to win. But we will also come up with a prize for anyone that can DOCUMENT a greater weight loss.

And in case you think that I am sandbagging (a Navy term for rigging the wager), let me tell you why this is your best shot for winning a simple weight loss race:
This month I will spend three weeks on the road, eating out with colleagues every night, and probably served pizza or other low calorie lunches by the client. Staying in hotel rooms without Jeremy to urge me on, in hotels with limited if any workout equipment. Two of the three weeks will be in the Frozen Midwest (so jogging is out), and I’ll be driving there so there will be long car rides involved.
I will be sending Jeremy daily or every other day status reports to let everyone know how the day went, the successes and what didn’t go so well. With that intelligence, you can best plan your strategy.
I am not happy with whatever weight shows up Tuesday. So my baseline weight will be my lowest weight since Jeremy and I started, which is 238 lbs. That means I am already starting at negative weight loss (I need to lose a few pounds just to get to ZERO!). That will give you a running start to beat my weight.

If you have a loved one or someone that has a New Years Resolution to lose weight, the first 4 weeks are critical to establish a new habit. Get them to take the Race to February challenge with us and get them on the track to weight loss. And let me know how you are doing by commenting on the blog. Hey, If I can lose weight, so can you. This may is YOUR year to become the person you always wanted to be. The New You is in there waiting to bust out and show the world. Lets Race to February and get a head start on lasting success!

And don’t forget to download Jeremy’s book on his website, www.talltrainer.com . And make the commitment to READ IT! It is filled with great information and I really enjoy how he communicates. With that added knowledge for you or a loved one, beating me will be like shooting fish in a barrel!

Ed

Week 9

Weight: 241 lbs.

I'm a little late updating, I'm sorry. It became a pretty interesting weekend for us. We had a quick stop at the emergency room on Saturday. My fathers face went numb. We were thinking it was something not too serious, but we wanted to make sure. Afterall that is what a stroke does. If you are suspecting a stroke ask the individual to smile or talk. The symptoms show up in the face first.

It turned out to be bells palsy. I'm not expert on this stuff, just exercise. Basically the facial nerve got pinched so that signals are no longer getting through. Everything is fine except his eye dries out easy because it is difficult for him to blink. He is wearing an eyepatch while he sleeps so he won't rub his open eye against the pillow.

Besides that exciement my father is also one year older as of yesterday. 52 years old. There was a christmas party that my dad was at saturday night. We'll blame that for the one pound gain. Again, its nothing to be worried about because weight fluctuates frequently. January is looking like a very busy month for my father's business. It will be a challenge for us to keep the weight loss continuing even in a busy time.

My book is almost completed. It has some of the best ways to help someone get started on a fitness routine. I'll have a preview up very soon and it will be ready after Christmas. I am giving it away free, to help spread information to the masses. I'll have a pre Christmas post. so see you just before or after the holidays. visit www.talltrainer.com if you haven't been in awhile. There are updates there too. Can you say V-shaped?

He is definitely a different size. It is pretty exciting. I knew we would do it, but I am so excited because its my DAD. We set a goal for mid January for being 231 lbs. It is exciting because the habits we are creating are not that challenging. I can guarantee this will not rebound. His diastolic blood pressure (this is the pressure when your heart is not pumping) has gone from 91 to 79. This is great because that means there is less pressure in his heart and arteries at rest. Definitely a decrease in cardiovascular risk. His flexibility continues to increase. This is going to allow him to move so much easier and actually may make it possible for him to get into jogging again. He always loved jogging but had to stop because of different pains.

Not all our measurements were perfect. I believe we had a bit of a measurement error on the % body fat. It read about the same as his initial measurement. The problem with bioelectrical impedence is that it depends so much on fluid balance I think the fuild may have been off slightly. We will check it again next month, until then we know we are on the right track without it. It will catch up sooner than later. Another funny outcome in our measurements was the result of the situp test. My father had gone hunting the day before and was very sore in the legs. The situp test I use, requires a little bit of leg activation so he actually did less crunches than last time. I'm sure if I let him try it tomorrow he could have done more. Again we are still in the journey, not the destination. He is getting stronger and his body is changing shape. I mean 3 1/4 inches is great. That's very noticeable in a hug. My little sister (15) gave it a try. She said, "whoa..."

Along with the weight goal we are focusing a lot on cardiovascular fitness for this next round. This is going to help him drop weight fast. Remember 2 pounds a week is the fastest you should lose while still being safe. We are right about there. 8 weeks and about 14 lbs. I have also been changing up the routine a little to challenge his muscles even more. And he has now been introduced to the foam roll, IT band. For those of you who have done it you know how he feels about it. If you haven't done it, you are missing out big time.

One of my favorite thins about this program is seeing him building pride in himself and what he can do. Not that he was ashamed of himself before but he is just that much more confident in himself all around.

It can be quite liberating when you finally realize your the one in charge of the waistline.

I'll see you back here next week. I'll try to get another video together. So you can watch us at work.

Jeremy Biernat
www.TallTrainer.com
Be ready for the free ebook coming out soon.

Dad's Comments
Happy December!

We just did my results tracking for month 2. So far I have lost almost 14 pounds (13.8 actually)! I am down over 3 inches in my waist, I feel better and I am told that I look thinner. I spent yesterday in the woods hunting (or hiking with a loaded firearm in my case yesterday), so I was a little apprehensive about the weigh in. But no burger this time – I learned my lesson!

I am looking forward to this upcoming month. I want to continue my weight loss (of course), but I am going to focus on strength and flexibility. I am finding it easier to say no to the wrong foods and, with Jacqui’s excellent cooking, I am really liking the ‘good stuff’. Exercise is something that I do every day. I try not to miss a single day. Now, I may do a shortened workout or just jog a mile or so, but I try to do it EVERY DAY. It has taken me two months to get to this point. Success is building my desire!

Jeremy is adding new items to the routine. Actually, there is a whole new routine. Give the man a ball and a few other items and he really can get you to pant in a hurry. The good news is, with the new exercises, I can go from start to “OK, that’s it!” in a lot fewer reps. These exercises are a lot more intense and I feel them targeting different muscle groups. I can’t wait to see the results over the next several weeks. We are reaching a point in the program that we will start throwing in different exercises. This will help keep it interesting. My dad was doing well with consistency but I could tell it would be getting boring soon. I also think he is ready to try more advanced exercises. It really takes some study to know when it is time to change up the program a little. When he travels and when we can't get together to workout he will still use the traveler's workout routine. (it's available on the website). Just remember I'm not a movie star but a personal trainer. I have to work on my camera presence a little.

I'm looking forward to next week. Week 8 is time to remeasure all the circumferences and %BF. I'm going to guess it's a little less dramatic than the first. I'm still expecting some good results. A lot of parties and gatherings have slowed us slightly but it is still moving in the right direction. He is nearly 10 lbs down from the program start. We will shoot for 10-14 lbs more by the end of January.

Remember this is not a gimmic "see how fast we can drop weight." It is a lifestyle change and needs to be something that can be maintained after the weight is lost. If I wanted my dad to drop weight fast, that's easy, but its called starvation in most circles. I am proud of the progress we have made. I am very happy. I get to have my old father back. The father I remember in childhood. The skinny energetic one.

Please watch the interview that I posted last week. I want you to see and hear it from his point of view. I'll see you next week for the 2nd full measurement cycle.

For access to the interview visit my website at: www.talltrainer.com.

Week 5 & 6 - Thanksgiving

What a week. Great time with family. We relaxed on the diet side and just went for it.

Weight: 247 lbs.

So we pretty much maintained weight through the thanksgiving holiday. Not to say that there weren't any ups and downs. My father went hunting last weekend. This threw his water balance off because he didn't drink that much water while hunting. He didn't want to have to pee every other minute. It would have been a pain in the tree stand. Another thing that effected his fluid balance was his dinner, big burger and fries. The salt content of a meal like that causes your body to hold on to extra water. He actually came back from that weighing 251.5 lbs. Which, if you didn't know about the way the body can retain water, would seem like a huge back step. The next day he was 249 lbs. And three days after he settled into 247 lbs. That is a 4.5 lb difference!! So even though he had a big burger in the evening while he was out hunting it didn't do him in. Of course if he didn't have the burger and fries he probably would have lost weight over the weekend.

This weight fluctuation brings up an important point. There is a point when you can weigh yourself too many times. It can be discouraging to look at the scale everyday and not see any change, or an increase. Which is why we typically weigh once a week. This is so we can monitor the trends. It actually takes several weeks sometimes to see weight loss. This is because the body does not lose weight in a linear pattern. Weight loss moves quite randomly even when workouts and diet are very predictable. So if you are trying to lose weight only weigh once a week and use this number as a trend line. If this number is going up or staying the same over the course of two-three weeks you know you will have to make a change in exercise or eating. If this number is dropping over the 2-3 week time that congrats you have found it.

All weight loss programs will have some bumps in the road. These bumps don't make you a failure. If you give up because of one unsuccessful weigh in, then you are a failure. Weight loss is not a short race where the winner is the fastest one to lose the weight. It is a process that if you go through correctly and learn how it works, you will never be a slave to fad diets and overnight success stories.

Check out my website for a video interview with my father on how he feels about his weight loss program currently. www.talltrainer.com

Our goal for Sunday is to break through 245 lbs.

Hope you had a great thanksgiving.

Week 4 - one month update

Weight: 247.5
Loss Total = 6 Pounds
% body fat loss = 4.4%
Lean Body Mass = 6.7 Pounds increased
Inches Lost = 4.55 inches total
Total Body Fat Lost = 12.7 Pounds!!!

Well it has been officially one month on the program.

Last week Ed (my father) was out of town. Those of you who have been following might notice a slight back step with the overall pounds lost. He gained a pound over last week. We still have some strategies to workout for his travels. But Weight loss rarely occurs linearly. This means that we don't go crazy if it is up at one measurment because it might be down double at the next. It takes several weeks to be sure of a trend.

I was looking forward to these measurements because that is where the results of all his hard work was going to show up. And it did. He lost 2 inches at his waist alone and increased his abdominal strength by over 63%. His blood pressure is lower and some areas of flexibility have significantly increased (over 10 degrees of motion).

Dad was a little down that his weight was higher than last week as we started the measurements. But after I gave him his results print out it helped to show that the improvements have been damatic.

The highlight was when you calculate lean body mass gain (6.7 lbs.) and weight loss (6 lbs.) you can see that he has lost over 12 pounds of body fat!!!

The plan for this weekend?

Well I was going to try to talk him into standing with me at the PTO sale on Saturday 18th from 9 am - 3 pm at the Canandaigua Elementary School (I will be there if you have any questions or would like to see some of my books and videos)

I could not ask him to do that knowing that HUNTING SEASON will have just started. So he will get his workout in the woods this weekend. I've given him some stretches to do. With his new strength and improved posture he is going to really enjoy the soggy weather.

Next Week - we will have some new pictures and an update on the hunting.

See More on my website www.talltrainer.com

Week 3 - 7 pounds!!!

Weight: 246.5Loss
Total = 7 Pounds!!

I made you a video of our workout today enjoy. http://www.talltrainer.com/uploads/Dad_Week3.mov

3 Weeks have gone by and we are ready to begin week 4.

At the end of week 4 we will be redoing all the measurements so we will know inches lost, strength gained, etc.. I have to congratulate my Dad on not missing a single weekly goal yet. I actually don't mind if we miss one afterall we are human. This week is going to be a great test of the program. Ed will be travelling all week on business. His workout's will be in hotel rooms and the temptation of food will definitely be there. About

Food:
I have not been to strict on the food intake portion of our training. Alot of people try to get the diet working first and then try to throw in the exercise. I believe, and thankfully this is backed up by piles and piles of studies, that the key to successful weight loss is in the exercise. Don't get me wrong the eating habits usually have to shift a little. Just a couple healthy choices not a radical spinach and tuna diet. By increasing the exercise the body is burning more calories than it did before. If the diet stays exactly the same (from a maintainance level) the body will lose weight. It is a LAW of science. By making a couple smart decisions during the day for food (or mostly avoiding flying off the handle) the diet can actually be decreased. When this comes together with the exercise, it becomes consistent and predictable weight loss.

PLEASE: if you do not believe that this will work CALL ME (585)261-0533 or e-mail me jeremy@talltrainer.com.

Understanding and Working through this concept is CRITICAL to EVER having SUCCESS. Well My father is off on a plane with his "Busy Traveler's Workout" DVD* and his exercise tubing. I know he will do just fine. We will see exact numbers in another two weeks when we re-test. It seems like a short amount of time to see improvement. However, when you work with a knowledgeable and experienced personal trainer it can really break through all the things that are holding you back. If someone was looking for a personal trainer to get them started, I recommend a minimum of 5 sessions. The reason why is that it would get the trainee to a certain level of confidence and understanding. This is the level that we are at now. We have drilled the same routine for 5 sessions and he (dad) is understanding how to position his body and perform the exercises with technical competence.

We had to get him to this level because he will be travelling and doing this program on his own. After the first five sessions we will begin to build on difficulty carefully and slowly. Sometimes we will add some new exercises other times we will enhance the current exercises. This is the role of the personal trainer over the long term, to keep the improvement happening and keep the workouts interesting. Without the right changes Ed's (dad's) progress will begin to slow.

We are right on track with our program and we are beginning to get excited about some of the changes that are already happening after only two weeks!!

Lets see what Dad has to say for himself.

Week 2 Summary Dad
Well, I guess one big ‘result’ is that I exceeded my weight target. I now weigh less than I have in over 4+ years and tip the scale at under 250 lbs.! I have a favorite work belt that I have had for many years. I had to add another (smaller waist size) hole to the belt and it fits fine. That makes nearly 5 lbs in two weeks, which is great considering the weekend. We weigh in on Sundays. On Saturday, we visited our #3 child, Andrew, who is a freshman at my old alma mater, Clarkson University. We spent the day which included a 4 hour trip up, mostly sitting around (it was a cold, miserable day overall, so we hung out), overeating on Sergi’s pizza (it brought back some memories, but I did eat too much), more hanging out, and a 4 hour trip back with the needed high-calorie energy drink and coffee. We got back at about 1:30 am and I weighed in at around 9AM.

Lessons Learned

1.) Sometimes it is better to be lucky rather than good, and this week I was lucky. While I was good on diet most of the week, all the pizza and sitting on Sunday could have upped the weight. What made a huge impact, in my estimation, was the fact that I drank over a quart and a half of water on the way back. While I try to drink consistently over the week, that flush helped counteract the high salt of the pizza.

2.) I didn’t get out and exercise as hard as I wanted to on Thursday, Saturday or Sunday. On Thursday and Saturday, I did go for short runs and walked a little on Sunday, but it was the rigor of the times I DID exercise that made the difference.
3.) I didn’t condemn myself for what I DIDN’T do. That sort of permission helped me deal with not being perfect. This is not about perfection, but about FAITHFULNESS. God never asks us to be perfect, but He does ask us to be faithful. That is a characteristic that I am working to build in my life, and this program is helping.

4.) I am feeling the effects of the muscle mass growing. I am not sore like I am normally when I exercise, so the fact that I can see the muscles building and some of the toning is pretty remarkable. I like not having to be in pain all day. Don’t get me wrong, there is some discomfort, but not PAIN.

5.) Adding to point 4, I will be trying to hit it a little harder this week since I have a travel week next week. Not to get to the pain level, but to accelerate (a little) the change. I’d like to put some daylight between me and the 250 mark, so I’d like to drop a little more than 2 lbs this week to get at or below 247. I haven’t talked to Jeremy yet about the target, so I hope this fits his plan.

6.) After six sessions with Jeremy, I have the routine down pretty well. When I am out of position in an exercise, I hear his voice in my head before I hear it in my ear. It is such a deceptively simple routine, and for it to have the impact that it is having is amazing. It is so straightforward that I won’t have any reason not to continue it on the road. The true test won’t be reason, but the WILL to see it through.

7.) Final note: I don’t plan on condemning myself if I miss a weight target. Now I don’t plan on missing any, but this week I was prepared mentally for the possibility. This is a learning experience, and in learning you have to be prepared for doing it wrong on occasion. The most important aspect of that is to truly LEARN how improve the process to prevent the mistake and not make it a crutch for future failure.

See you on Sunday. My name is Ed Biernat and by now you have probably seen my picture on the www.talltrainer.com website. I am the heavier one. You may have a couple of questions, so I thought I’d try to answer the most obvious ones for you here.

Why am I doing this?

Years ago, when I was much lighter and more toned, I saw a heavy guy on the beach – you know, one of those guys that was all bloated looking, with obvious fat showing, and really REALLY out of shape – with his shirt off, looking like a poster child for making shirtless men illegal. I turned to my wife and joking said, “If I ever look like that, do me a favor and shoot me!” A couple of years ago I looked in the mirror and saw that guy looking back at me. So the reason that I am doing this is self preservation – I am afraid Jacqui will take me up on the offer!

Other reasons are: ·
I am noticing that I am losing energy - not a lot but it is noticeable.·
For my family – for some strange reason they want me around for a long time.·
Mental focus – In my business I need to be sharp for my clients 100% of the time. The days are long (10 to 14 hours are typical), and being out of shape makes it hard to stay sharp. ·
By an unscientific set of observations, I believe that thinner, fitter consultants make more money. (I’ll let you know if that’s accurate sometime next year.)

What is the goal?

Target is to get close to 200 lbs., but I’ll reassess as I drop below 220. And to get what I said I lacked above.

Why go public?

Well, for a couple of reasons. First, I have promised to lose weight many times before, and I needed to make this different. I think telling internet community and now with the entire Rochester area with the Channel 8 news story makes doing nothing a non-option. Another reason is to support my son, Jeremy. And finally, I hope to inspire other guys that have ‘gone to seed’ to take responsibility and get back to the men they want to be.

Why a personal trainer?

Because the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I don’t need good intentions, I need results. To get that, I need to be held accountable and to learn how to exercise correctly. If you, humble reader, have any other questions, just send them to me at weightloss@leangames.com.

Summary of Week 1 from Ed

Well, Week 1 is done as of Sunday. The weigh in was positive, and I beat my target for the week by a little. Jeremy and I worked out together the scheduled three times, and I got in some walks / jogs as well. Here is how the week went from my perspective:

Exercise: The routine was pretty simple. Nothing required any weights or special equipment, with the exception of the resistance band. Jeremy’s goal for me is to be able to make this portable so that I can take it on the road when I travel. I know the resistance band travels well, since I used to carry it a lot in the past. (Carried it a lot, used them maybe twice.) I have to admit that my admiration my son is growing daily. He has the ability to take a simple exercise (squats) and explain why it has to be done a certain way to get the benefit I need. I can do 25+ squats MY way, but 10 squats JEREMY’s way is pretty tough. It is exercising the muscles that help control balance, and I have always had poor balance. Not the stumbling wino kind of balance, but unsure enough that ice skating is really a lesson in futility. Jeremy approaches the rest of the exercises in a similar way.

Diet:I am not making any major changes in my diet, just trying to eat less (portion control) and to drink more water. In the past I would try to do it all, diet, exercise, the whole package. Trying to do that AND traveling 60% of the time just didn’t work. So we are taking it one step at a time and focusing on exercise. And doing the exercises right.

Overall:Great week. Looking forward to being under 250 lbs. by week’s end!

- Ed Biernat

Week 1 - Watch My Dad Change

Today we had some special guests visit our workout. All I can say is thank you Dad.

...........................>

My father did an entire exercise routine with a, News Channel 8, camera in the room. This is not usually a comfortable idea when you are beginning an exercise program. Thank you Dad for working hard and letting other people benefit from seeing our workouts.

And thank you Jim, Elizabeth, and shadows from News Channel 8 for coming by and allowing us to share what we are doing. Hope to see you again soon.

Update:

We hit our goal for the week: 251.8 lbs.

2 lbs. lost almost exactly.

Next weeks goal will be get under 250.

Even better than that the posture is improving and his technique in the exercises is getting better. He is already stronger (don't tell him I said that) I can tell by the way he is holding his body and the intensity of the exercises. Great posture allows us to work harder by decreasing the risk of injury. Also great posture and proper excution can actually make you feel GOOD when you finish an exercise routine.

The Routine:

We are now into the second week and settling into our workouts a little more. The plan for these workouts is to do the same routine until the first trip out of town. (he travels alot). So we are trying to build understanding of the exercises so he can perform them on his own with excellent technique. We always start with a general warm-up, break into the exercise routine, and ALWAYS end with a stretch. What I was telling my Dad today, "the stretching may be the most important thing we do." It can have amazing effects.

The Exercises:

We are doing mostly body weight and exercise band exercises because he will be doing this in his hotel room when he is out of town.

We will post my Dads comments later check back soon. The whole family has been concerned with the possibility of health issues. I know his energy has been slipping and the weekend house projects are hurting him more and more. He also wants to be closer to the man my mother married, not that she would start to love him less, but he loves her and wants to be the best he can for her.

I had been giving him advice over the phone and e-mail but it wasn't what he needed. He needed someone who could prove to him that exercise does not have to hurt, or take forever, and that the results can start showing relatively quick.

So upon moving back to Canandaigua it was only natural to finally help my Dad.

We started with an initial assessment.

Main reasons for exercise: "Lose weight. Get more energy. Professional Image. And to aviod health issues."

What Motivated you to Exercise? "I didn't like what I saw in the mirror. Plus my wife is a Bully."

Previous Exercise Experiences? "Was in the military so I've done alot of running, push-ups, and all that stuff. After that I used to run 3-4 miles fairly consistently but my knees started hurting pretty bad. I have done the walking, treadmill, and the weight machines before."

What do you want your personal trainer to do? "hold me accountable, provide assistance, and to teach me."

Current Weight: 253.8 Lbs.
Current %BF: 30.7%
Strength Tests:
Push-ups from knees: 13
Sit-ups: 11

Trainer Observations: Edward Biernat (51) is in pretty good shape with no serious health issues in the past. A few things I will be working on with him are: Posture and flexibility because this will decrease his knee, shoulder, and neck pain and stiffness. It will also allow him to move easier with less effort. Another area to work on will be muscle strength, he is very strong in many areas but there are alot of compensations his body is making, so there are some weak areas to work on like the upper back and glutes. Mostly I am going to teach him how to get all he wants without taking all day and with it actually becoming fun...well fun-ish.
Goals:

Lose 50 Lbs.
Increase endurance
Increase Energy

Our goal for 10/22/2006 = 252 Lbs.

Wish Us Luck. Check back soon for the next weekly update.

Welcome to Tall Trainer Fitness

This blog will be a way for me to keep up with former clients/friends and spread information to new or interested clients.

I will be moving back to Canandaigua, NY (9/21) after being in Texas for over 5 years.
